What is my why?

Ko Te Reo te Take 🫶🏽

My passion is te reo Māori.

I believe every child in Aotearoa deserves the opportunity to hear, learn, speak, and love the reo rangatira of this whenua. Te reo Māori is a taonga that connects us to our history, our identity, our people, and our future. It deserves to be celebrated, nurtured, and shared with every generation.

Through Ōhinerangi Rauemi, my aim is to support kaiako to feel safe, confident, and empowered to teach te reo Māori, regardless of where they are on their own learning journey. I believe some of the most powerful learning happens when kaiako and ākonga learn alongside one another, growing in confidence together and creating authentic language experiences in the classroom.

As a learner of te reo Māori myself, I understand both the joy and the challenges that come with learning a language. I know what it feels like to lack confidence, to worry about making mistakes, and to wonder whether you're saying things correctly. I also know how transformative it can be when learning feels supported, achievable, and meaningful. This personal experience shapes every resource I create and drives my commitment to making te reo Māori learning accessible, practical, and encouraging for others.

My goal is to provide resources that support a rich, meaningful, and well-supported te reo Māori programme, making language structures visible, understandable, and accessible for all learners. By reducing barriers and increasing confidence, I hope to make it easier for kaiako to incorporate te reo Māori into everyday teaching and learning.

My vision is a future where te reo Māori is heard in every classroom, celebrated in every school, and treasured by every child who encounters our beautiful reo. I am committed to creating pathways that remove barriers to learning and help ensure that te reo Māori is not only taught, but lived, loved, and carried proudly into the future by our tamariki and mokopuna.

Mā tātou katoa te reo Māori e whakakaha, e whakarangatira, e whakamana.
